India have more tourist than another country too and of course they used an airport for travelling. So in my post today, I want to share about Delhi International Airport.

About the airport and its traffic


Delhi-NCR is one of the country’s biggest business and commercial hubs along with being the seat of the Central Government, Parliament, Supreme Court and several other hallowed government institutions.

The Delhi International Airport is located in Palam and is easily accessible from all parts of the National Capital. The Delhi Airport also serves as a major hub for several NCR cities, including Gurgaon and Noida among others. There are more than 60 airline carriers that operate from the Delhi International Airport, also called the Indira Gandhi International Airport. These include both global and domestic airliners.

The Delhi Domestic Airport is one of the busiest in the country, with flights available to almost every major city in India along with several tier-2 and 3 cities. In the year 2010, IGIA was awarded the fourth best airport in the world in the 15–25 million category. In 2016, IGIA has become Asia-Pacific’s only airport to achieve a carbon neutral status. 

As per Delhi Airport information, it can handle up to a whopping 40 million passengers, which is no mean feat. The Airport in Delhi has won several prestigious laurels and accolades from leading global agencies.

  • There are ample spaces to shop, eat and relax, besides conveniences like ATM, money exchange, baggage wraps, taxi services, cozy lounges etc.
  • The duty free here is perhaps one of the best and biggest in the world
  • Adding a new dimension to airport lounge, there is an innovative concept of sleeping pods and pay-per-use lounges to enhance the personal comfort of travelers
  • Not just these, you can enjoy a relaxing spa after the hustle and bustle of check-in

Delhi Airport Interiors


The IGIA has recently refurbished the old terminals with a contemporary look. The interiors are state-of-art with new flooring, false ceilings, and steel claddings on pillars. Signages at all prominent places guide passengers to move around without any confusions.

International and domestic carriers at the airport


The Delhi International Airport is the 10th busiest airport in Asia and 21st busiest airport in the world when it comes to passenger traffic. After Terminal 3 went live in 2010, the airport has become an important and massive aviation hub in South Asia.

The national carriers of all major countries operate flights on routes that pass through the Delhi International Airport. These include Air Canada, Air Asia, Air France, All Nippon Airways, Air China, British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines, KLM, Malaysian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, Swiss International Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, Kuwait Airways, Turkish Airlines, FlyDubai, United Airlines, Lufthansa, and Virgin Atlantic. All domestic airlines like Indigo, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, GoAir, have regular flights connecting Delhi Airport with all major cities of India.
